Safety Tips & Dining Etiquette

Kindred Social is all about creating authentic, comfortable, and meaningful connections over shared meals. To ensure every dinner is safe and enjoyable, we’ve put together essential guidelines on safety and dining etiquette. Following these tips will help make your Kindred Social experience seamless and enjoyable.

Before Dinner

Communication: To maintain the excitement of meeting in person, our platform does not support pre-event messaging. If you happen to connect with others beforehand, we recommend keeping conversations minimal.

Safety: Let a trusted friend or family member know about your plans. Share the restaurant’s location and your estimated arrival time for peace of mind.

Preparation: Arrive with a positive attitude and an open mind, ready to engage with new people. Bring your assigned booking name (we will email this to you beforehand), and if possible, review the restaurant’s menu online in advance.

During Dinner

Conversation & Engagement:

  • Be open to diverse perspectives and engaging discussions.

  • Avoid controversial or divisive topics that may make others uncomfortable.

  • Respect different viewpoints and listen actively.

After Dinner

Continued Interaction:

  • Only share personal details with those you trust.

Safety:

  • Never send money or share financial details with anyone you meet through Kindred Social.

  • If you encounter inappropriate or suspicious behavior, please report it to us immediately.

Transportation:

  • If you’ve consumed alcohol or anything that may impair your ability to drive, arrange alternative transportation such as a taxi, rideshare, or public transit.

  • Never accept a ride from someone who is under the influence.

Additional Tips

Personal Safety:

  • Keep an eye on your personal belongings and drinks at all times.

  • Be mindful of your alcohol intake to stay in control.

  • If you have food allergies, confirm with wait staff that your meal is safe to eat.

Dining Etiquette:

Come Hungry: We carefully select restaurants based on dietary and budget preferences. Enjoy the meal and let us know how we did!

Ordering Food:

  • Be considerate of others’ dietary needs when ordering.

  • If sharing dishes, communicate to ensure everyone is comfortable with the selections.

Splitting the Bill:

  • Bring cash, just in case! While most restaurants can split checks, it’s not always guaranteed.

  • Common approaches include splitting the bill evenly or paying for what you ordered. Apps can also help make splitting easier.

Tipping:

  • Follow local tipping customs. Consider tipping generously for great service.

Behavior:

  • Be open to different perspectives and engage with curiosity.

  • Keep conversations respectful and inclusive. Avoid humor or discussions that might be perceived as inappropriate or divisive.

  • Stay as long as you’re comfortable—there’s no pressure! Leave when it feels right for you.

Arrival Time:

  • Be punctual out of respect for your fellow diners and to ensure the event runs smoothly.

  • If you need to cancel, please provide as much notice as possible since last-minute changes affect the whole group.

Food Preferences:

  • If you have dietary restrictions, notify the restaurant staff when ordering to ensure they accommodate your needs.
